I grew up in the rolling, wooded countryside of southwest Michigan where riding horses bareback through the fields, swimming and sailing in a nearby lake was my favorite way to spend summers.
I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor graduating with a BA in Political Science and I have been taking pictures seriously since a summer job as a camp counselor in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, during college years.
My husband, Jim, and I make our home in Lindsay, California, where the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains melt gently into the orange groves and fields of the San Joaquin Valley.
My passion is the profound beauty that results from the play of light and nature. Whether a close-up image from our garden, a landscape, a city, people, objects, places, all provide remarkable visual sensations.
The practice of photography has helped me develop the ability to see and appreciate more fully the visual beauty of life. And it has provided a way for me to save and share these experiences.

Historically I’ve used Nikon 35 mm film cameras with a mid-range zoom and occasional close-up lenses. Working at first exclusively in black and white, I eventually moved to color photography which now makes up the majority of my work. And digital cameras and computers are now my principle tools.
I teach high school social studies full time in Porterville. For several years I also taught photography in the Art Department of Porterville College.
In 1994 I established Blue Ridge Photography as a small business specializing in fine art photography, portraits, and occasional wedding documentaries.
I’ve shown my work in many galleries and museums over the years. But the most important shows and new work will be exhibited at the coming events on our shows & events calendar.
