Blue Shutters

We found this spot in the town of Villefranche sur Mer, the next harbor to the east of Nice. The town is ancient and modern, with its bright villas stretching up the hills above the Mediterranean. This point was the oldest, down by the harbor. Two women were leaning out their windows above my head, across the narrow street from each other, having their morning chat. They could almost have held hands.
